Almost Spring

This photo was taken on Merivale Road, in Ottawa south. The starkness of the winter landscape make the trees along the road really stand out. This is one of a series of photos that I took along this route.

[ f/9, 1/1600, 16mm, ISO 200 ]

I was attracted to the apparent stubborness of the trees along this road. The fences, the wires, even the road, all seem to be trying to keep the tree separate and alone, adding somehow to the sense of gloom and cold that can be so much a part of dark winter days. Yet, something in its posture speaks of defiance and resolve. It's branches rise above the fences. Its stance leaning towards the light. Spring will triumph.
