Broken Windows, Broken Dreams

I spent an afternoon exploring an old mill town that is now abandonned. A few buildings remain standing, providing some testament to those that lived and worked there.

shades of red and blue

oh walls
once solid
now bleeding through

how appropriate
these colours seem to me

i see the hue
of clear blue skies;
an invitation
for dreams to rise

i see red

blood soaked sweat instead

from they

whose hands
that built

these shelters
that now do wilt

and they

whose spirit permeates
and ever so cruelly

dominates

in every shattered beam
the broken remnants

of their broken dream
