ThoughtWaves

The Museum of Civilization in the Ottawa Capital Region is a favorite subject for all the architectural delight in the many curves and layers of the building. This one is shot inside and is a view looking up 'through' the different floor levels. I really like the play of light and dark in this photo. It is the light and dark that gave rise to the poem.

thoughtWaves

some thoughts will ripple

shedding light
in waves across your body

brighter in places
revealing your moments
of happiness

casting shadows
in times of doubt or pain

when you move towards
the darker light

please

call on me
to lift the veils

i will let in
the healing bright

Cross-roads

A photo taken last summer, standing atop a parking garage and looking down. A little idea about cross-roads and choices.

[ f/8, 1/200, 70mm, ISO 400 ]

cross-roads

i did believe one time
in preparation
to approach life's crossroads

looking for a sign
a declaration
and hope my fear erodes

but i never could avoid
delightful twists
on roads i never chose

in truth i have enjoyed
when life insists
on roads that i've opposed

The girl in the window

I have been going through a bit of a dry spell with respect to my poetry. Ideas aren't the issue. I think it's more a case of discipline. And time. Hopefully I will get back to posting some writing a little more regularly.

I took this photo in the Distillery District in Toronto during a trip this past December. Hope you like the photo and the poem.

[ f/2.8, 1/30, 52mm, ISO 1600 ]

the girl in the window

i imagine how excitedly
she speaks of her new beau

while happiness
from every gesture does flow

- or perhaps
a meeting and a friend she must console

bringing joy
to dissipate the hurt, dispel the woe

- maybe
an actress relishing her newest role

- or is it memories
of a perfect Christmas filled with snow

- perhaps it's summer nights
where clocks have learned
to tick so slow

i smile
content to know i'll never know...

it's wondrous is it not?
the dialogues
that one can weave and sew

upon seeing a girl in a window
while on an evening stroll
